WEDDING-EYE FIGHT

BRIDEGROOM BEATEN A wedding-eve fight in a restaurant and * telephone messages from a man calling himself Sir Archibald Flower, were mentioned in evidence at Bow Street during the hearing of a fraud charge against Mrs Dawn Flower ,36, a florist, of the Adelphi Hotel. A remand on bail was ordered. Mrs Flower was accused of conspiring with a man not in custody to defraud Mr David Rose, an estate gent, of Shaftesbury Avenue, W. She was alleged to have obtained sums of £ls and £l4 from Mr Rose, telling him that she was a daughter-in-law of Sir Archiba'd and Lady Flower, and that Lady Flower had died, leaving £2,000,000 between her and her divorced husband on condiiton that they remarried. Mr Rose ..aid that Mrs Flower asked him to manage her affairs. Next day someone purporting to be Sir Archibald Flower telephoned to him saying that he wished to hand him £SOOO which was to be given to his daughter-in-law on the day she remarried her former hr.'band. Later the same man telephoned that his son, Hugh Flower, had met a man named Curkip, who wanted to marry Mrs Flower. Hugh Flower had said to Curkip: “If you marry Dawn I shall shoot the hair off you.” On the day before the wedding date Mrs Flower told Mr Rose that Hugh Flower and Curkip had fought in a restaurant. Hej former husband had “an awful beating up,” and was taken to. a nursing heme. Mr Rose said that on the day fixed for the postponed marriage he called at Mrs Flower’s flat to take her to the nursing home for the wedding. She was not there. It was stated by the prosecution at the previous hearing that the accused woman had nothing whatever to do ixdth Sir Archibald or Lady Flower.
