DOMAIN BOARD At the annual meeting of the St. Andrews Domain and Cemetery Board there were present Messrs L. A. O’Loughlin, J. Turpie, D. G. Lyall, R. L. Pugh, P. P. Dix, A. Leckie, G. King, J. J. Dickson, R. D. Smith. S. Winchester, F. G. Martin, G. H. Smith, and the Rev. J. Hay. Trustees for both Boards for the ensuing term were elected as follows: Messrs F. D. Martin, D. G. Lyall, L. O’Loughlin, R. L. Pugh and R. D. Smith. A request from the Caledonian Society asking for additional buildings to accommodate athletes on sports day was discussed, and it was decided to make adidtions to the present pavilion and also to paint the building. HALL COMMITTEE At the annual meeting of the hall committee Mr L. A. O’Loughlin presided. The balance-sheet showed that the Hall during the year had been run on sound business lines and was able to present a satisfactory credit balance. Mr L. A. OLoughlin in his annual report thanked the committee for its assistance. Several functions in support of the hall funds had been arranged and had been the means of putting the hall in its present sound position. The speaker, who was also the delegate to the meeting in Waimate regarding the licensing of country halls, stated that it had been decided by the Association to give all the country halls twelve months trial without licensing. It was decided unanimously to abide by the rules of the Hall Licensing Association. The election of officers resulted: Committee, Messrs L. A. O'Loughlin, G. King, F. D. Martin, S. Winchester, G. H. Smith, R. F. Dix, H. O’Neill, A. Leckie, R. D. Smith; auditor, Mr J. R. Trimbell, subject to consent. Trustees, Messrs L. A. O’Loughlin and R. L. Pugh. A request from the Library Committee for representation on the Hall Committee was granted. Messrs H. ONeill and G. King were nominated to represent the Library Committee. The resignation of the secretary, Mr J. Turpie, was received with regret. GYMKHANA COMMITTEE At the annual metieng of the gymkana committee Mrs P. R. Woodhouse presided over an attendance of 16 members. Final arrangements were made for the gymkhana to be held at Victoria Park in January. The election of officers resulted— President, Mrs P. R. Woodhouse; secretary, Miss Joy Bennett; treasurer, Mr R. B. Williams; horse and pony events. Mr and Mrs H. B. S. Johnstone and Mrs H. Elworthy; field events, Mr and Mrs Collins, Miss B. Morris, Mr J. R. Trimble, Mr A. L. Bennett and Mr O. Davey. Children’s events, Mrs Cague, Mrs Irwin, and Mr Eggleton; side shows, Messrs Dent, Kempthorne, E. Dix, Keith CGcks and Rex Bennett; children’s pets Mr and Mrs W. E. Mills; steer riding. Mr E. G. Coles; produce stall, Messrs Armstrong, Mercer, Giles and Miles; work stall, Miss Arden. Mrs Pugh, and Mrs Trimble; mock art gallery. Miss Muriel Shears; sweet stall, Miss Margaret Ford and Miss Joy Bennett; refreshments, Mrs J. Stowell. Arrangements were made for the Timaru Municipal Band to be present on the day of the gymkhana. The committee recommended that the programme include novelty bicycle race, wheelbarrow derby (lady passenger), chain stepping competition, pillow fighting, sheaf tossing, blindfold driving, rescue race, hoop collecting, egg and plate race, Gretna Green, flag race, musical chairs, tug-o’-war, for horses only, trotting competition for ponies, draught horse

derby. Arrangements were also made for a dance to be held in the evening.
