EXCESSIVE ENTRIES By Telegraph—Press Association CHRISTCHURCH, December 4. Excess entries in the fat cattle and fat sheep sections at to-day’s Addington market caused a drop in values. Store Sheep.—Ewes and lambs met with a better sale by about 1/- a head. Dry sheep were 1/- cheaper. Best ewes and lambs sold at 18/- to 20/all counted, and adult wethers at 20/to 22/-. Fat Lambs.—A heavier entry than butchers required caused a slight easing, values being from 71d to 73d per lb. The freezing works open on Tuesday. Fat Sheep.—There was a heavy penning. Good wethers and ewes were down by 1/6 a head and lighter ewes by 2/- to 2/6. Exporters did not operate at the prices ruling. Best wether* sold at 24/- and 28/- and freezing ewes at 14/6 to 18/-. Fat Cattle.—The 445 head penned created an over supply in the hot weather which has now set in. There was an easing of 20/- a head for all classes except medium weight prime steers. Best beef made from 28/- to 30/- per 1001 b and prime light weight a shade more.. Extra prime heavy steers sold to £l6/2/6, prime heavy £lO/5/- to £l3, prime medium weight £9/10/- to £lO/15/-, ordinary £7/15/- to £9/5/-, extra prime heifers £9/15/-, prime £6/10/- to £B/5/-, ordinary £5/5/- to £6/5/-, extra prime cows to £9/10/-, prime £6/5/- to £7/15/-, ordinary £5 to £6. Fat Pigs.—Baconers were firm and there was a slight improvement for porkers. Export buyers were in the market, and paid full values for anything that fell to them. Choppers made 30/- to £4/18/6, baconers 45/6 to 52/6, heavy 55/6 to 58/6, extra heavy £3/8/6 (average price per lb, 4id to sd) • porkers 30/- to 34/6, heavy 36/6 to 39-6, extra heavy to £2/3/6 (average price per lb old to 6d).
