POLICE SUCCESS
KIDNAPPERS ARRESTED IN MARSEILLES United Press Association—By Electric TelcarapO —Gopyrlent MARSEILLES, December 2. After four days’ investigation, the police arrested a woman of 63 years of age, and her son (25), as the kidnappers of an 18 months’ old child of Dr. Malmjae, and demanding £7OO ransom. When the police were about to enter the apartment, the son drew a revolver and. threatened to kill the child unless they withdrew. The police shouted: “We promise not to arrest you; don’t fire.” They consulted headquarters, who reinforced the police and ordered the arrest, whereupon the police broke in the door, snatched the child and overpowered the son. The arrested pair admitted the crime. Protection from a crowd of 2000 was necessary to prevent lynching. During the search instructions of how 1 to feed the child were broadcast, as well as a promise from the father to pay the ransom. The police believe the ransom was not wanted, the real objective of the kidnapping being to secure the child to represent as the heir of an important estate.
