TOUR OF SOUTH AFRICA A party of Oxford and and Cambridge University athletes, together with the British Empire sprint champion, A. McSweeney, toured South Africa in September. At their first meeting against Eastern Provinces at Capetown Sweeney won the 100yds in 10 l-10s and the 220yds in 21 8-10 s. A. G. Pilbrow won the 120yds hurdles in 15 l-ss, and the 220yds hurdles event. R. G. Howland won the 161 b shot with 47ft. 2in., and F. R. Webster annexed the pole jump with lift 2in. Pilbrow in the 120yds. hurdles by a foot in 15s, but Pilbrow won the 220yds hurdles in 23 7-10 s.
