The records at the Timaru Gardens yesterday were:— Barometer—29,7o. Min. temp, on grass—29.6. Frost—Nil. Wind—S.W.6. Rainfall, 24 hours from 7 p.m. Thursday—Q.4ins. IN OTHER CENTRES Ashburton—As a result of the sharp showers of rain and hail experienced on Thursday afternoon, three points of rain were registered at the Domain weather station. This makes 1.j.9 inches for November. A cold southerly wind blew yesterday, and the sky was mainly overcast, with only occasional glints of sunshine. Little rain fell, however. Geraldine—Air temperature, min. 37, max. 56, at 9 a.m. 49. Wind, southerly. General conditions, heavy showers during day. Temuka—Yesterday was cold and stormy, with occasional light showers during the afternoon. The maximum temperature was 56 degrees and the minimum 27 degrees. There were 5 degrees of frost. The glass last evening was steady. Waimate (24 hours ended 9 a.m. Friday)—Barometer, 30.05 (steady); thermometer, highest 52.7, lowest 43.8; rain, 2 points; wind gauge, miles run in the previous 24 hours, 155; bright sunshine, 5 hours 25 minutes. Yesterday was overcast in the morning, but in afternoon heavy rain fell intermittently. DOMINION METEOROLOGIST General situation—Pressure is still low to the east, while an anti-cyclone extends across the Tasman Sea, but its centre appears to be taking a northern course. Winds—Moderate to strong southwesterly still reaching gale force in exposed positions, but slowly decreasing, later veering to westerly and north-westerly in the south. Seas (New Zealand waters)—Rough to high north of Farewell Spit and south of Cape Palliser, elsewhere rather rough to rough, but seas moderating gradually. Eastern Tasman Sea—Moderate to strong south- vest winds, veering to north-westerly in the southern portions, seas rather rough. Weather — Still changeable and squally, with scattered showers, but improving; cold temperatures with sharp inland frosts in the South Island, but becoming milder to-morrow; later conditions becoming unsettled again in the western districts, especially from Taranaki southwards.
