PRODUCE MARKETS DUNEDIN By Telegraph-Press Association DUNEDIN, November 8. The milling wheat market Is unchanged with millers, who have yet to complete their purchases, prepared io accept the odd lots still available. The fowl wheat market is firm at 4/9 a bushel, sacks extra ex truck with 5/- to 5/3 ex store. T*h2 demand for oats is limited and little business is going through. A Gartons are worth 3/11 f.o.b.s.i. and B’s 3/9, equivalent to 3//3 and 3/- a bushel respectively in the country. Chaff is worth £5/10/- a ton, sacks extra, ex truck, and £6 sacks extra, ex store. The quotation for old potatoes is up to £ll a ton sacks included. Apart from the retail demand, wnic.h at this time of the year is fairly good, there is not much interest being shown in the seeds market. Prices remain unaltered with merchants confining their busiriess to purchasing lines to meet, where required, any additional retail demand. CHRISTCHURCH By Telegraph—Press Association CHRISTCHURCH, November 8. A number of consignment shipments of potatoes to Wellington have been arranged during the week. There appears still to be a market for old potatoes in Wellington, and though there have been no sales of any size, the price has risen since the beginning of the week to the equivalent of £7/10/- on trucks. Fowlwheat continues firm. Business is now being transacted on the basis of 4/8 a bushel f.o.b. for free. Orders have come in from Dunedin this week. The North Island seems to be scarce of feed grain, as shipments of maize from Africa and Barley from Australia have been made. The trade in small seeds is quiet, though there is a steady demand for retail business, mostly in small lots. Merchants are expecting a fair autumn trade. DALGETY AND CO., LTD. Dalgety and Co. Ltd. have received advice from the company’s head office in London that at the annual meeting to be held on November 21, the directors recommend declaring a final dividend of 21 per cent., making, with the interim dividend already declared, 5 per cent, for the year ended June 30 last. The dividend will be payable on November 28. The directors propose transferring £IO,OOO to the staff provident fund and carrying forward the sum of £116,300.
