The New Zealand women’s tennis team played a further match against a New South Wales hard-court team today at Rockdale and triumphed. Results:— Singles. Miss Prior (New South Wales) beat Miss I. Poole (New Zealand), 9-7, 11-9. Miss Eldridge (New South Wales) v. Miss E. Rudkin (New Zealand), 7-5, 4-6. Mrs Gee beat Miss T. Poole (New Zealand), 6-2, 6-4. Miss Stebbing (New South Wales) lost to Miss D. Nicholls, 3-6, 2-6. Miss Bruce (New South Wales) v. Miss N. Beverley (New Zealand), 6-2, 3-6. Mrs Humphries (New South Wales) v. Miss D. Miller (New Zealand), 1-6, 9-7. Doubles. Misses Stebbing and Bruce lost to Misses Nicholls and Beverley, 1-6, 4-6. Mesdames Gee and Humphries v. Misses I. and T. Poole, 9-7, 9-11. Misses Prior and Eldridge lost to Misses Miller and Rudkin, 3-6, 3-6. Totals: New Zealand 10 sets, 108 games; New South Wales, 8 sets, 96 games. The New Zealanders showed improved form. There were moments of great excitement, the match issue being in doubt right to the last. Buckmaster and Miss Eldridge defeated Sidwell and Miss Miller (New Zealand), 6-8, 8-6, 6-3 in the eliminating rounds of the mixed doubles of the New South Wales tennis championships.
