GIANT LINER
RARE WOODS FOR INTERNAL DECORATION British Official Wireless (Received November 7, 5.5 p.m.) RUGBY, November 6. No less than 50 varieties of wood will be used in the internal decoration of the liner Queen Mary. They include rare varieties, such as betula patapsko, makore and zebrano. The accommodation in the new liner is being planned to give the maximum of sunshine and the number and size of windows is exceptional. The children’s playroom, for example, will have five 12ft windows and a verandah. The grill room will have no less than 22 windows. The statement that when the Queen Mary joins the company’s fleet the liner Berengaria will be withdrawn from service was not authorised by the Cunard-White Star Line.
