WAIHI HOSPITAL

STAFFING DIFFICULTY By Telegraph -Press association WAIHI, November 6. The question of the confirmation of the appointment of Dr Archibald Jenkins, as medical superintendent of the Waihi TT “spital, following the resignation of Dr L. R. Hetherington, came before a special meeting of the Waihi Hospital Board. Letters from the Minister of Health, Sir Alexander Young, and the DirectorGeneral of Health, Dr Watt, were considered. The letter suggested that before dealing finally with the Board's recent application for the approval of the aopoir' ent of Dr Jenkins, the matter should be reconsidered by the Board, with a view *o determining whether it should re-engage Dr. Hetherington as superintendent. It was considered, continued D” Watt, that unless the suggestion was given effect to the Board will continue to find itself faced with extreme difficulty in obtaining medical and nursing assistance to enable the work of the hospital to be properly carried out, whe-eas the difficulty would disappear if Dr Hetherington resumed duties. The meeting, in committee, discussed the suggested proposals of Dr Watt, with Dr Hetherington. and arrived at a certain dec’~ ,r>v i. not available to the press, for confirmation at a meeting of the Board next Tuesday.
