Mr and Mrs Fitz Haus, Fortrose, are guests at the Grand. Mr and Mrs W. Pollock, Gore, are guests at the Dominion. Mr and Mrs A. J. Caithness, Greymouth, are staying at the Dominion. Mrs and Miss N. Reid, Fendalton, Christchurch, who were guests at Te Kainga have returned home. Mr and Mrs Printz and Miss Wimberton, Christchurch, are staying ■ t Te Kainga.
Mrs E. H. Clark and Miss Lunham, Palmerston South, are staying at the Grand.
Mrs E. C. Studholme, Waimate, returned home yesterday after a visit to her mother, Mrs Wells, Christchurch. Dr. J. Bright Bannister, and Mrs Bannister, London, are visiting Timaru, and are staying at the Grosvenor.
Mrs J. C. Templer, Waimate, will leave to-day for Wellington to attend the New Zealand Women’s golf championship meeting. Mrs M. A. Raymond and her children, “Clovelly,” Nelson Terrace, will leave to-day to spend a holiday at Tekapo. Mrs Vizer, Christchurch, who is staying with ter daughter, Mrs W. Fea, Elizabeth Street, will return home on Monday. Miss Frostick, Christchurch, who Is staying with her sister, Mrs G. Webster, Nelson Terrace, will return home to-morrow. Miss Turton, Wellington, who is staying with Mrs G. H. R. Ulrich, Waiiti Road, left yesterday to stay with Mrs G. Mathias, Cave. Mrs James Grant, “Gray’s Hills,” Mackenzie Country, who has been staying with Mrs A. Grant, Aigantighe, Wal-iti Road, returned home yesterday. Mr and Mrs J. tickles, Mr and Mrs Weston Wacher, Mr and Mrs C. Perkins, Dr David Orchard and Dr A. L. Haslam, Christchurch, will be visitors to Timaru to-day for the Bain-Ander-son wedding. Five women doctors, all graduates of Otago University, met recently in Loudon when Dr Alice Rose (Mrs K. H. Tellerman) entertained at her home Dr Edith Mayo, Dr Kathleen Todd, Dr Winifred Morton and Dr Marjorie Barclay. Sister A. G. Blewett, who for many years has been second assistant to the lady superintendent at the Auckland Hospital, has been appointed by the Hospital Board to the position of lady superintendent at the Auckland Infirmary, replacing Miss M. Wade, who resigned recently to be married. Mr and Mrs Sparks held an enjoyable card evening at the “cookshop,” Craigmore, to mark the occasion of Mrs Sparks birthday. The supper room was beautifully decorated with blossoms and daffodils. Successful prizewinners were Miss R. Currie and Mr D. Kay. Among the guests present were Mr and Mrs Sparks, Mr and Mrs Currie, Miss P. Currie, Mr Mills and Mr Neil Currie. A large number of friends gathered at the residence of Mrs A. F. Campbell, Melville Downs, Fairlie, on Thursday to celebrate the ninety-first birthday of her aunt, Mrs Leitch. Mrs Leitch is still blessed with a good memory and delighted the party with the pleasure she showed in opening the many parcels of gifts and without the aid of spectacles she read aloud a number of congratulatory messages. After a delightful afternoon tea, Mrs Leitch was presented with a beautiful bouquet by Miss Enid Bray. Then a large iced birthday cake suitably decorated with candles to represent 91 years (the gift of Mrs A. Bray) was brought in. After thanking her many friends, Mrs Leitch lit the main candle. The cake was then cut and handed round.
