SEQUEL TO PARTY SQUABBLES PRIME MINISTER ADMITS MISUNDERSTANDING United Pre e s Association —Bv Electric Telegraph—Copyright (Received June 9. 6.30 p.m.) BUDAPEST, June 8. The Prime • Minister of Hungary (General Julius de Gombos) was challenged last week to a duel by the Opposition deputy, Dr. Eckhart, following an alleged revelation that General Gombos provided information which was the subject of a previous quarrel between Dr. Eckhart and Count Bethlen. Subsequently General Gombos and Dr. Eckhart settled their quarrel without a duel, but this only precipitated another duel and threatens a third. Dr. Eckhart to-day fought with light cavalry sabres the Government deputy. Herr Szalay. Each was wounded 10 times when they desisted from sheer exhaustion. General Gombos earlier appeased Dr. Eckhart by saying that Count Bethlen misquoted him. Count Bethlen has now sent his seconds to General Gombos.

The Budapest correspondent of the “Daily Mail” says: General Gombos, contrary to expectations, admitted a misunderstanding with Dr. Eckhart, and Count Bethlen accepted the explanation, thus obviating a duel.
