PRODUCERS’ BOARDS
CO-ORDINATION SUGGESTED By Telegraph—Press Association WELLINGTON, June 8. The Minister of Agriculture has replied to the Dominion Executive of the Farmers Union that the request that one of the Government nominees of the Dairy Board should be a Meat Board representative had been given further consideration. It appeared that the arrangement by the legislation passed last session would go far to bring about co-ordination between the boards, and he suggested that the matter should be left over in the meantime. He intended to go into the general question with the Executive Commission of Agriculture later when the position as regarded the exports of primary produce became clearer. Mr Macmillan also replied with regard to the diamond back moth, advising that arrangements were being made with the Imperial Entomological Institute to carry out investigational work in the northern hemisphere to ascertain what parasites of the moth are likely to prove effective in New Zealand. This would require at least a year before a decision could be reached whether or not importations were warranted.
