JUNIOR CHAMBER OF COMMERCE
MONTHLY MEETING HELD The monthly meeting of the Junior Chamber of Commerce was held last night in the C.F.C.A. Boardroom. Present: Messrs L. P. Collins (chairman), J. S. Satterthwaite, R. Davidson, D. T. Todd, C. T. Ballantyne, A. Aitken, A. Lawson, R. C. M. Sunley, D. Maze, H. Washbourn, W. L. Davies and P. W. Young (secretary). Delegates were appointed to attend the conference called by the Timaru Catholic Club for the purpose of forming a Debating Union in Timaru. A report on the Main Highways Board scheme for a direct route to Christchurch was considered. Members expressed thanks to the nior Chamber for its interest in the Junior Chamber movement during the pnst year and congratulated the Senior Chamber on its successful year’s operations. A sub-committee was set up to consider the question of hoardings in Timaru, and to report to the next general meeting. The following remits to the Senior Chamber were passed:— “That the Senior Chamber sponsor the formation of Junior Chambers of Commerce throughout New Zealand.” “That the Timaru Borough Council be asked to forego the parking charge for cars on Caroline Bay.” Messrs W. A. Lewis and L. P. Collins were appointed as delegates to attend the meeting called to consider the Empire Trade Week scheme.
