A. AND P. SOCIETY At a meeting of the Committee of the Mackenzie County A. and P. Society held In the Parish Hall on Friday, Mr D. Fraser presided. Major Purvis, Military Secretary to the Governor-General wrote conveying thanks to the Society for its invitation to Viscountess Galway and His Excellency the Governor-General, to attend the Show at Fairlie on Easter Monday next, and suggesting that a further letter be sent at a later date. Mr H. H. Sterling, chairman of the Railway Board wrote congratulating the Society on the record train for the Show.

Mr S. T. Richmond, of Seddon, who was unable to attend the Show as a judge, through illness, wrote offering to act at the next Show Is required. It was decided that it be a recommendation to the incoming committee to appoint Mr Richmond as a jjudge. Mr C. D. Chisnall wrote in reference to classes for rabbits. Left to the incoming committee to deal with. Mr R. McGillivray, Fields Superintendent. who was a judge at the Show, wrote in reference to the class for Dales Hybrid turnips. He said that in all cases Dales Hybrid should be a green top variety. Mr McConnell brought up the question of the delay in judging ponies. It was decided that the whole pony class be revised before next Show. Mr Fraser mentioned that he thought that before next Show, gates should be put on the cattle pens: also he thought that an office should be made for the secretary, as the tent as at present used was not satisfactory. Mr T. F. Bussell proposed that the annual social and presentation of cups be held as usual; seconded by Mr W. R. McConnell —carried. The following sub-committee was appointed to arrange for the annual social. The president and Messrs R. A. Grant, T. F. Bussell, J. Caskey, G. Pinkerton, A. Grant, P. Neilson, W. Close, W. G. Black and H. A. Munro. Mr Bussell proposed, and Mr McConnell seconded, that a donation of £5/5/be made to the Timaru Pipe Band. A donation of £l/1/- was granted to St. John Ambulance Association, Timaru.

The secretary stated that the gate takings at the Show amounted to £290/10/-: this was a record, the previous record some years ago was £243. It was hoped to show a fair profit on the working for the year. Members were urged to pay their subscriptions before the end of the financial year, May 31.
