REVOLT SMASHED

RADICAL LEADER SLAIN United Press Association—By Electric Telegrapb— Copyright (Received May 9, 7.0 p.m.) HAVANA, May 8. Government soldiers, according to an unimpeachable source, are said to have smashed the miniature revolt by killing Antonio Guiteras, the Radical leader, backed against the Army, by a small detachment of the Navy. Soldiers’ bullets struck down the young former Secretary of the Interior, War and Navy, after a grim battle at the mouth of Matanzas harbour, 64 miles east of Havana. Four soldiers and a follower of Guiteras were slain, and a large amount of kidnap ransom bills in 300,000 dollars from the proceeds of the kidnapping of Eutimio Falla Bomet, were found near the body of Guiteras. The Government had charged Guiteras with kidnapping. Guiteras is a native of Philadelphia.
