4 woman’s work? .’Tilt far beyond Mere words to sing, ’Tit wide as angel’s boundless sphere — A. holy thing. Her work—to sweeten human life, And make it glad; To bring back Hope to those-'who fail: To cheer thg sad. To be the sunshine and fresh breeze Along life’s way; The 'friend, of woman, man, and child, From day to day. To be to Man his guiding star, When dark his skies; His helpmeet in his hour of need, Strong, patient, wise. To make, the home a garden fair, A. sheltered, spot, Within whose, walls the world’s harsh din And strife come not. Her task—with loving, righteous swag, And counsel meet., Ever to guide in wisdom’s way The children’s feet. To trim Love’s lamp with chaste, clean hands, And keep it bright, Lest, other, weaker woman souls Should miss the light. To follow daily in the path The pure have trod; To lead a, sinning, suffering tvorld Upward to God; This, this is woman’s work. —Marion Downes.
