MACKENZIE COUNTY
Following were the results of the elections in the Mackenzie County:— COUNTY COUNCIL Fairlie Riding. Talbot, C. J 226 Neilson, P. E 162 Scott, 'W 159 Carlton, H 10 Collins, W. H 0 Messrs Talbot and Neilson were elected. Messrs Carlton and Collins notified their withdrawal a few days before the election, but, as withdrawal at that stage was illegal, it was necessary for their names to remain on the voting papers. Opuha Riding Campbell, A. F 115 Mackenzie, A. B 115 Carter, F. J 90 Messrs Campbell and Mackenzie were elected. Tekapo Riding Murray, Geo 144 Allan, J 101 Parker, C .A 94 Messrs Murray and Allan were elected. A few more returns have yet to be dealt with but they are unlikely to affect the results. POWER BOARD Talbot, C. J 199 Scott, W 125 Mr Talbot was elected. HARBOUR BOARD Fairlie and Opuha Ridings. Campbell, A. F 150 Carter, F. J 106 Mr Campbell was elected. HOSPITAL BOARD Macdonald, E 275 Scott, W 128 Mr Macdonald was elected.
In returning thanks to the electors for placing him at the top of the poll in the Hospital Board election, Mr E. Macdonald said: “I most sincerely thank you for the confidence you have so unmistakably shown in me and I also accept your vote as a complete vindication of the Hospital Board's policy.”
