SALE TO BE CONSIDERED BY SHAREHOLDERS By Telegraph—Pres? Association CHRISTCHURCH, May 7. The annual meeting of Sun Newspapers Ltd, was held to-day. Mr W. J. Jamieson presided in the absence of the chairman of directors, Mr H. D. Acland. On behalf of Mr Acland, Mr E. C. Huie, managing director, read a statement in which he discussed the paper’s position in relation to other newspapers in Christchurch and the recent negotiations for the sale of the company’s property. Mr Huie stated also that on Saturday last a formal offer had been received from New Zealand Newspapers Ltd., which would be referred to the shareholders for decision at an extraordinary general meeting of shareholders. This offer would be open for a period of five wepks. The letiring directors, Messrs H. D. Acland and W. J. Jamieson were reelected. It was stated on behalf of Mr Acland that the effect of the last offer received from New Zealand Newspapers Ltd. would return to shareholders probably between 8/- and 8/6 a share.
