ST. ANDREWS

SUCCESSFUL SOCIAL A pleasant social evening was spent by the members of the Otaio Basketball Sub-Union in the Springbrook School last Friday evening. Affiliated teams were present from Scuthburn, Springbrook, St. Andrews, and Kohika. The evening was spent in games, competitions and dancing. Items were contributed by Miss Hazel Gordon (pianoforte solo), Miss Marion Hutton (song), Miss Topp (dance), Miss Hazel Wilkes (recitation). Music for the dancing was supplied by Mrs Allen, extras being played by Miss Nina Coote and Miss Myra Evans. The winners of the Monte Carlo yrere Misses I. Hurst and Topp. These present were: Mesdames Bockaert. A. Bennett, A. Wilkie, Vincent, Misses B. Moyle, D. Knox, Porter (secretary Sub-Association), Caird (2), M. Russell, D. Bell, Coles (2), M. Hutton, Joy Bennett, Hazel Lange, M. Coote, S. Smallridge, Topp (2), Mary Longman, Ivy Kinross, Isabel Hurst, Jessie Webber, M. Smith, Muriel Rogers, Messrs Gibson (2), L. Pye, Dobson, Caird, Thompson (2), G. Porter, Allen (2), N. Bishop, R. Russell, H. Henderson, L. Munro, P. Preston, Scott (2). Thomas, Scannell (2), A. Bennett, Rex Bennett, Bee, A. Vincent, E. Smith, S. Rogers, W. Rouse, N. Cloake and many others. THE LIBRARY A flag five hundred evening, held in the Public Hall library room, was very well attended. The prize winners were Mrs E. Shea, Mrs Mclvor and Mr A. Leckie. The committee has decided to hold the card evenings fortnightly throughout the winter months. A new consignment of books has come to hand and already reading matter is in strong demand on account of the colder weather. PERSONAL Mrs R. B. William and her son have left on a holiday visit to the North Island.
