DONAGHY’S ROPE AND TWINE COMPANY The directors’ report shows that the net profit for the year ending March 31 was £6196/17/6, to which must be added £3525/8/3, less the interim dividend of 9d a share, which absorbed £1762/10/-, leaving available for distribution £7959/5/11. The directors recommend a final dividend of lOd a share, absorbing £1958/6/8, and 5d a share from income on investments, which will make a total of 2/- a share for the year. They also recommend that £ISOO be added to the reserve to provide benefits for employees and that the balance of £3522/5/11 be carried forward. Depreciation amounting to £2216/11/6 has been written off buildings and plant.

N.Z. NEWSPAYERS LIMITED For the year ending March 31 the net profit was £39,886, the largest since 1931. With the amount brought forward, £15,717, there is £55,003 available from which an interim dividend at the rate of 5 per cent, per annum was paid in October and which took £14,562 and left £41,041 to be distributed. The directors recommend a final dividend at the rate of 5 per cent, per annum and the balance of £26,478 is carried forward. During the last four years the dividend at 5 per cent, has been unchanged. In 1931 it was 6 per cent, and in the previous year it was 7 per cent. DENTAL AND MEDICAL SUPPLY COMPANY The directors’ report for the year ending March 31 shows a net profit c.f £1723, compared with £926 for the previous year. During the last 12 months business has improved, each of the four branches showing an increase in sales. Ample provision has been made for bad debts and stocks have been conservatively valued. Furniture, fittings and motor cars have been depreciated at the usual rates and £471 has been written off premises. With £37 brought forward there is £1760 available for distribution. A dividend of 2h per cent, is recommended and this will take £1445, leaving £315 to be carried forward.
