QUIGLEY—MARTIN
The marriage of Maisie Ethel, youngest daughter of Mrs M. J. Martin and the late Andrew Martin of “The Grange," Otaio, to Andrew, sixth son of Mr and Mrs F. Quigley of Otipua, was celebrated at Trinity Church, Timaru, which was decorated for the occasion with white michaelmas daisies, scarlet oak and tois. The ceremony was performed by the Rev. L. J. Hodson of St. Andrews and Mr Blair supplied appropriate music. The bride was escorted by her youngest brother, Mr E. O. Martin, of Oamaru and she wore a gown of white windswept silk velvet made with a centre seam from neck to hem, the necessary fulness being given by side panels introduced below the knee. The square neckline was trimmed with velvet flowers and the long sleeves made tight fitting from the wrist to the elbow were slit from the shoulder and finished with bow shaped crystal buttons. The long embroidered veil was fitted flat to the head and held at the back with a circlet of orange blossoms from which it fell in long graceful folds to the floor forming a long square train. Her bouquet con-
sisted of white dahlias, begonias, carnations and maidenhair fern. The bridesmaid, Miss Craig of Makikihi, wore a frock of marina blue taffeta, the fitting bodice having a V shaped neckline outlined with flared frilling which continued along the shoulder line and formed epaulettes over the short sleeves. The skirt swept into a full flare, the base of which was also finished with flared frilling. The wide Biskra straw hat was trimmed with blue velvet ribbon. Little Peggy Martin, niece of the bride, who carried the veil, was dressed in a frock of the same material made long and shirred to the bodice with a ruching at the foot and the little cap was trimmed with blue and pink velvet flowers. They both carried armlets of cream gladiolus and fern. Mr G. Paterson, of Otaio. was best man and F. D. Martin acted as usher. The guests were received by Mrs Martin at the Stafford tea rooms. After the breakfast the bridal party and guests travelled to “Harakeke” the home of the bride’s mother where a social hour was spent and afternoon tea was served. The bride travelled in a chocolate brown worsted tailored costume wi ll accessories to tone and brown skunk fur.
