WOMEN’S INSTITUTE
ORARI At the Orari Women’s Institute’s sixth birthday party, the president, Mrs S. Unwin, welcomed the guests, and spoke of the yntiring work for the Institute of Mrs G. A. M. McDonald, who had been president for six years; appreciation was shown in the usual way, and Mrs McDonald suitably replied. On the supper table was the beautiful cake made by Mrs Watson who blew out the candles, after which the president cut the cake which was handed to the guests by the vice-presi-dents’, Mrs Macdonald and Mrs W. Hughes. A very enjoyable evening was spent with dancing, games and competitions, everyone taking part. Songs were given by Miss E. Williams, Miss Brokenshire, Miss G. Hughes and Mr M. Richardson. Winners of competitions were— Nuts, Miss R. Killoh’s team. Paper tearing, Mr Pratt. Blackboard drawing, Mrs Fuldseth and Mr Pratt’s teams. Children’s game, Master Ted Hughes. Whistling and buns Miss Collins and Mr Pratt. Prize winners for the year were: Miss L. Cone 1, Mrs H. Brenton 2, Miss R. Killoh 3, Mrs Johnston 4, Mrs Bennett 5, Mrs Cone 6. Best garden flower: Mrs W. Hughes 1, Mrs F. Hughes 2, Mrs Black and Mrs Macdonald equal 3. The accompanists for the evening were Miss M. Killoh, Miss P. Brenton, Mrs McAdams, Mrs Gerard and Mr H. Brenton. The success of the evening was due to Mr F. Priddle who carried out the duties of M.C. FUR RENOVATIONS pVERY renovation that we do has to satisfy us as well as yourself In fit and finish.
