ARMED JATS ATTACK TAX GATHERERS United Press Association— By Electrio Telegraph—Copyright (Received April 30, 7 p.m.) DELHI, April 30. Thousands of armed Jats attacked the officials and police collecting land revenue in Sikar village in Jaipur. The police fired, killing four and wounding fourteen. Eleven police were injured and eighty arrests were made. Quetta raiders led by a notorious outlaw, attacked a mail lorry near the Afghan border, resulting in an affray in which four were killed and four injured. PEASANTS KILLED IN POLICE ENCOUNTER United Press Association —By FUectrtc Telegraph —Copyright CALCUTTA. April 28. Thirty-seven Jat peasants were Killed and a large number seriously wounded in a clash with the police in the village of Kadan, in Rajputana State. A police official, with an armed escort, was supervising tax collections when the party was attacked by an enraged mob of thousands of peasants armed with scythes and knives. The police opened fire. The police official and several police were hurt. Over 100 rioters were arrested. The situation at present is tense. State troopers are patrolling the district. Leaders of the Jat community have telegraphed to the Viceroy, Lord Willingdon, requesting his intervention.
