TEMUKA STOCK SALE VALUES FIRM Entries in all sections, showed a slight falling off at the stock sale held yesterday at Temuka. Prices were fully maintained, and considering that three fat stock sales have been held in the last two days without any easing of values, a very healthy tone is denoted. Pat cattle.—About 100 head were yarded the majority being unfinished cows. Good cattle sold fully up to late values, the light and unfinished beef selling sluggishly. The range was. Fat cows (best) £4/2/6 to £6/17/6, medium £2/17/6 to £3/12/6, light 30/- to £2 2/6; fat heifers (best) £4/2/6 to £5 ,7/6, light £2/2/6 to £3/7/6; fat steers (best! £6/12/6 to £9/2/6, light £4/12/6 to £5/7/6; vealers 20/- to 32/6. Store cattle.—No change was noticed in the store cattle market, the following being the sales: Bulls to 31/-, empty cows 8/- to 30/-, 2-year-steers £3/10/-, 18 months heifers 30/- to £2 5/-, calves 8/-. Dairy cattle.—A keen inquiry was forthcoming for good sorts, just calved or close to profit. Springing heifers made to £5/7/6 and cows in profit to £5/10/-. Pigs.—The pig sale was the same dragging market it has been of late weeks. Vendors for the most part accepted the low rates offering for the full yarding of pigs. Prices were: Weaners 3/- to 9/-, slips 8/- to 12/-, stores 18/- to 26/-, porkers to 35/-. Fat lambs.—The yarding totalled nearly 800, practically all of which changed hands at auction, a fully representative bench of exporters operating at top schedule rates. Sales ranged from 16 - to 20/-. Fat sheep.—The fat sheep sale was on a par with other markets this week, and about 2/- a head better than the previous Temuka sale. Values were: Butchers ewes 15/- to 18/-, freezing ewes 11/- to 14/-, fat wethers 22/- to 28/-. Store sheep.—The store market showed no change, a small entry selling as follows: 2,4, 6 and 8-th crossbred ewes 20'-, full and failing mouth ewes 8/- to 12/-, cull ewes 5/- to 6/-. wether lambs to 14/6, corriedale ewe lambs 18/-.
