SOCIAL NOTES

Miss June Orbell, “The Croft.’” Park Lane, has left on a visit to Wellington. Mr and Mrs T. Boyle, Oamaru, are staying at the Grand.

Mr and Mrs Burns, Masterton, are guests at the Grand. Mrs E. W. Hunter and Miss Jean Hunter, Christchurch are staying at “Kelso,” Sarah Street. Mrs F. S. Batchelor, Dunedin, is the guest of her daughter, Mrs Harold Elworthy, “Craigmore.”

Mrs Smith, Timaru, and Miss Bain. Tycho, left on Saturday for a month’s holiday in Southland. Mrs Rickman, who is staying with Mrs E. Howden, Park Lane, will leave to-morrow to stay with Mrs Ruddenklau, Waimate.

Miss Nancy Deans. North Canterbury, will arrive to-day to stay with Miss Fonna Macdonald, Orari, for Miss Catherine Johnstone’s wedding.

Miss Catherine Westenra, Dunsandel, will arrive to-day to stay with Mrs C. L. Orbell, “Pentlow,” for the Martin-Johnstone wedding. Mrs C. Ronaldson and Miss Doris Ronaldson, Christchurch, are staying with Mrs A. Grant, “Aigantighe,” Wai-iti Road.

Mrs J. O. H. Tripp, Kurow, will arrive to-day to stay with Mrs R. L. Orbell, “The Croft,” Park Lane, for the Martin-Johnstone wedding. Miss Agatha Upham, Christchurch, is the guest of Mrs C. H. Gresson, Selwyn Street, for the Martin-John-stone wedding. Mrs G. C. Lindsay, who has been staying with Mrs Stewart, Markham Flats, have left for Wellington, to join the Maunganui for Sydney. Miss Vera Field who has been spending a few days with her parents, Mr and Mrs H. Field Otipua Road, has returned to Ashburton.

Guests at the Balmoral include: Miss W. A. Valentine (Wellington), Mr G. Nairn (Wellington), Mr Turner Smith, Mr G. S. Robinson, Miss Ayer (Christchurch), and Mr Neil A. Black (Dunedin).

Mrs Louis Cohen, Wellington, who has been staying with Mrs- Charles Mathias, Caye, will arrive to-day to stay with Mrs Westmacott, Nile Street, for the marriage of her niece, Miss Catherine Johnstone. Miss Hooper, England, who was Mrs Westmacott’s guest has left for Christchurch.

Lady Wigram, president of the Christchurch Ladies’ Golf Club, will leave next month for a trip to England. Before the presentation by her of the prizes won during the golf tournament, concluded at Shirley this week, Mrs M. H. Godby (captain of the club) wished Lady Wigram an enjoyable trip. Lady Wigram, Mrs Godby said, was a foundation member of the club, and had always shown the keenest interest in its welfare.
