NEW JUDGE
MR J. B. CALLAN, K.C. By Telegraph—Press Association WELLINGTON, April 29. Mr J. B. Callan, K.C., has been appointed a Judge of the Supreme Court. Mr Justice Johnston becomes Judge of the Court of Review. Other members of the Court of Review are Messrs R. S. Chadwick (Dannevirke) and A. Coleman (Stratford).
John Bartholomew Callan. 8.A., LL.B.. was born at Dunedin in 1882 and educated at the Christian Brothers School and Otago University. He was senior partner in the legal firm of Callan and Callaway till quite recently, when he removed to Wellington. Mr Callan was Dean of the Faculty of Law, Otago University, a member of the Council of Legal Education, and a former president of the Otago Law Society and the Otago Amateur Athletic Association. He served in the Expeditionary Force as a captain in the Third Battalion of the New Zealand Rifle Brigade.
