NEW MAGISTRATE

SEVERAL CHARGES PENDING By Telegraph—Press Association WELLINGTON, April 5. The Magistrate, Mr A. M. Mowlem has retired from, the Bench at Napier, und his place will be taken by Mr J. Miller, who will be replaced in Wairarapa and Wellington by Mr P. H. Lawry, Mr E. C. Lewy will go to Christchurch, from Invercargill, and the new Magistrate, Mr Freeman, will go to Invercargill. Mr J. H. Luxford. at present relieving in the work of the Wellington Court will return to Hamilton shortly. Mr J. G. L. Hewitt, now at Napier, will be available at Wellington, when Mr Miller goes to Napier. In giving the above information, Mr Dallard, secretary of Justice, expressed appreciation of the ready manner in which the magistrates in other districts had made themselves available to assist the Department in coping with the extra work that fell on Mr E. Page and Mr W. F. Stilwell in Wellington, because of the absence of Mr J. S. Barton in other special work.
