OBITUARY
MR VV. H. JONES By Telegraph—Press Association WELLINGTON, March 25. The death is announced of Mr William Henry Jones, aged 74. He joined the staff of the Bank of New Zealand at Auckland when a young man and later was transferred to the head office, Wellington. He was on the inspecting staff when retired. He took a prominent interest in the territorials, amateur athletics, boxing and freemasonry. LORD DOVERDALE. United Press Association—By Electric Telegraph —Copyright LONDON, March 24. The death is announced of Lord Doverdale. MR H. M. DOUGLAS By Telegraph—Pres9 Association WELLINGTON, March 25. The death occurred on Saturday ol Mr Hugh M. Douglas, secretary-man-ager of the Working Men’s Club for the last 14 years. He was born at Dunedin on March 19, 1874, and came to Wellington 34 years ago. He was the inventor of the Douglas looseleaf ledger now in general use. He was a member of the Wellington Trotting Club and Hataitai and Eastbourne Bowling Clubs and was also a strong chess and draughts player.
