MACKENZIE HIGHLAND SHOW Preparations for the annual show to be held at Fairlie on Easter Monday are now well in hand. Visitors will be well catered for, there being numerous attractions apart from the usual classes for stock and produce. The dinner-table competition for members of the various Women’s Institutes and Women’s Divisions of the Farmers’ Union will again be a special feature. The existing trotting and pacing competitions promise to be well supported. A pony bending competition for children will be a popular event, while the best hunters in South Canterbury will be seen in action. The recent Pipe Band contest held in Timaru showed that South Canterbury possessed two very fine bands, Timaru and Mackenzie Highlanders. The Timaru Band, which gave such a fine display at the contest, will be present at the Show. I The grand parade of stock will be headed by the combined Mackenzie and Timaru Pipe, Bands, comprising 30 ' players. Special trains at excursion i fares will run and hot water will be provided free to picnic parties.
