N.Z. AND RIVER PLATE LAND COY. The New Zealand and River Plate Land and Mortgage Coy., Ltd., had an income of £90,010 for the year ending October 31, 1934, being £5,103 more than that earned in the previous year. Expenses and taxes increased from £14,583 to £18.588 and the cost of exchange from £6,740 to £26,785. Net profit fell from £28,626 to £16.093. A sum of £42,251 was brought in. Dividend for the year is reduced from 5 per cent, to 3 per cent., and £37,344 remains to be carried forward. Paid up capital is £700,000. To provide for the further fall in Argentine exchange, an additional transfer of £50,000 has been made from reserve. The directors state that the mortgage moratorium law, which came into force in the Argentine in October, 1933, has been a great hindrance to business and has considerably curtained the company’s earning powers.
