MARIST RUGBY CLUB DISBANDS DEARTH OF PLAYERS A very well attended meeting of the Marist Football Club was held in order to discuss whether the club was in a position to carry on. It was pointed out that the club hadbeen in a struggling position dining the last few years. Most of the explayers who should take an active part in the work of running the club were unfortunately in the country, so that they could not give their time. However, this was only of minor importance because the town supporters were capable and willing enough to continue. When the number of players for the coming season was discussed, it was found that there was no hope of fielding a full team and it was decided that it would be hopeless to continue, and the meeting was almost unanimous in deciding that the club should disband. STUDHOLME EWE FAIR The Studholme Ewe Fair was held on Wednesday. A yarding of well over 10,000 sheep was penned, and a very large attendance of buyers was present. From the outset animated competition was in evidence, and any lines showing quality elicited keen competition. Prices for most classes showed an advance on recent markets, and the indications at the close of the day were that the demand for breeding ewes in this district is not yet filled. Two-tooth ewes showing condition and quality brought from 27/6 to 32/-, the top price being obtained for a nice line of 101 Romney cross three-quarter bred ewes in good condition on account of Mr J. Fox, of Studholme. Good 4, 6 and 3 tooth ewes brought to 19/5. and older sheep were in demand at an advance estimate at about 2/- on recent sale rates.
