The electric torpedo i» slower than the latest compressed air torpedo, but it can exceed 30 miles per hour, which is very dangerous to slow moving merchantmen. German naval men have also devised a method of invisible firing by hiding the rush of the air from the tube. Hotherto the upheaval on the surface betrayed the firing.
