RUGBY The annual meeting of the Huimai Football Club was held in the Morven Hall, Mr E. J. Meredith presiding. A letter was received from the Waimate Rugby Sub-Union tendering congratulations to the club on winning last year’s senior competition. A letter received from Mr J. C. Hay protesting against the club holding a meeting on a Sunday was held over for further consideration. Annual Report The president, Mi* E. J. Meredith, reported that the club last year had met with a fair measure of success. The senior grade players had won the senior competition and the Coltman Cup for the second year in succession, and were runners-up in the knock-out competition. The club had also won the senior seven a-side tournament, and had travelled to Fairlie to contest the Burnett Memorial Shield. Although defeated in this game, the Mackenzie Sub-Union, by their liberal hospitality, had made the day thoroughly enjoyable for all who made the journey to Fairlie. The junior team had been runners-up in the season’s competitions and also in the seven a-side tournament, and throughout the year had shown keenness. On the social side the year had been enjoyable, two successful dances yielding more than £lO, which was a great help to the finances of the club. A large measure of this success was due to the ladies of the Morven district, to whom the club tendered its sincere thanks and appreciation. Before proceeding with the election of officers, the secretary asked that a vote should be taken as to whether the club should carry on during the coming year, as the seniors had decided to disband at the end of last season owing to one of their players being suspended. Messrs E. J. Meredith and J. Heath expressed the view that the disbanding of the club would show a very poor spirit of sportsmanship, and on a vote being taken it was decided to carry on as usual. Election of Officers The election of officers resulted:— President, Mr E. J. Meredith; secretary and treasurer, Mr W. Wellwood; assistant secretary, Mr T. Black (subject to consent); vice-presidents, last year’s with the addition of Mr S. Garland: delegates to Sub-Union, Messrs F. J. Bailey, J. C. Winning and H. Barford; committee, Messrs E.
