WHEAT CROP
PLANTING RESTRICTIONS LIFTED. United Press Association—By Electric Telegraph—Copyright WASHINGTON, March 20. The Agricultural Adjustment Commission lifted the restrictions on planting spring wheat, and farmers reported that 17,847,000 acres will be planted, an increase of 1,855,100 acres over 1934. The Secretary, Mr Wallace, said he would permit farmers who agreed to reduce production 10 per cent, to plant the full acreage, and compensate for it by a larger reduction of acreage in 1936. This action had been taken to avoid a reduction of importations of wheat,, resulting from a possible recurrence of droughts in several major wheat producing States, where the rainfall and subsoil moisture is still subnormal.
