PRISONER RECAPTURED AFTER LONG CHASE United Press Association—By Electric Telegraph—Copyright SYDNEY, February 6. Making a dash for freedom from the Parramatta gaol, a hand-cuffed prisoner paid no heed to a fusillade of shots, and was only captured after a long chase. The young man, serving & long sentence, was being brought from a country gaol under an escort of two warders, and was about to enter the Parramatta gaol gates, when he suddenly pulled himself free, and fled. Six shots were fired, but the prisoner continued to race along the road. A dozen warders took up the chase, and the man was eventually overtaken.
