TIMARU RADIO CLUB

MONTHLY MEETING The Timaru Radio Club met on Wednesday, Mr V. H. Keay presiding. The Radio Inspector, in reply to the Club’s letter regarding electrical interference, stated that the matter was for the Head Office, Wellington, and the position was being brought under its notice for a direction. Mr Gray reported that six new headphones had been installed at the hospital to take the place of the 11 destroyed. The installation was in good going order at present. A discussion took place on electrical interference, the secretary reporting that he had received a report from a listener and that he had passed it on to the P. and T. Department. The following motions were passed: “That any complaints from any listeners to any Club member be accepted as a complaint, the member concerned to endeavour to obtain a written report and to forward it to the radio inspector drawing his attention to the type of interference mentioned.” “That a letter, per Mr W. A. McLachlan, be forwarded to the Member for Timaru asking him to point out at the next session of Parliament the fact that electrical interference is becoming more prevalent and that the Interference Regulations are not being put into effect, also, that the local radio inspectors have no power to act in the matter, and that it is high time that something definite was done to eliminate the interference.”
