Writing to his sister in Blenheim, a New Zealander who is now living in Sydney says that last December was the coldest and wettest he had ever experienced. “Generally by this time I am as brown as a Maori.” he says; “this year I haven’t been into the surf once. As I write it is raining in torrents, with thunder and lightning thrown in for good measure.”
