DIARY SOLD
MARIE LOUISE ON HER EXPERIENCES United Press Association—By Electric Telegraph—Copyright LONDON, December 18. Marie Louises diary, for the years 1810 to 1813, was sold for £490, at Sotheby’s. She describes her impressions on boarding the Charlemagne, the first warship she had seen. She says she showed so much of her legs in ascending the steps that she vowed she would not climb a battleship again without wearing trousers. She caught rheumatism through Napoleon taking her for an evening walk in short sleeves. Napoleon frequently scolded and ordered her about. She declares that men are insufferable. “If I returned from another world I certainly would not marry.”
