SCOUTS IN CAMP
NEW ZEALANDERS ARRIVE IN MELBOURNE United Press Association—Bv Electric Telegraph—Copyright (Received December 19, 10.40 p.m.) MELBOURNE, December 19. Thirty New Zealand Scouts, led by Scoutmaster Lay, the first of the contingent of 241, arrived by the Monowai for the Jamboree at Frankston next week. In all 10,000 Scouts will go into camp at Frankston on the same day. Elaborate marshalling plans have been made to ensure a successful march in. Special express trains from other States will run through to Frankston. Scouts of many nations have already arrived in Melbourne awaiting the great event, which has brought them around the globe. Two South Africans made a surprise arrival to-day, having cycled from Sydney, via Canberra, having desired to see the Australian countryside. Their journey occupied a fortnight.
Arrangements for the Jamboree are complete in every detail, even to the production of a daily newspaper by a staff of honorary Scouts. Brilliant pageantry will mark the opening day on December 29, when 10,000 Scouts will march past the Chief Scout (Lord Baden-Powell), led by bearers of the flags of all nations.
