WAIMATE

A VERY SUCCESSFUL PRODUCTION

CHRISTMAS PANTOMIME One of the most successful and spectacular amateur productions which has been produced in Waimate over a long period was greeted by a large audience in the Olympia Hall on Tuesday night when a Christmas pantomime entitled “One-Eyed Hal” was staged in aid of the funds of the Waimate Girl Guides. The play was written and produced by Mr W. P. Black. Waimate. the setting being of the period when highwaymen were rampant in England, and when dressing and effect were the important features of life. The theme of the play was interpreted by a most competent cast, the various characters sustaining each and every part most creditably. The outstanding feature was the beauty of the costumes and the delightful scenery. At the conclusion of the programme the leading artists were the recipients of handsome bouquets.

The company was assisted by an accomplished orchestra which rendered the necessary incidental music. The orchestra was under the baton of Mr H. F.
