Mr and Mrs A. G. Lowry (Dunedin) are guests at the Empire.

Mr and Mrs J. M. Butler (Christchurch) are staying at the Grosvenor. Major and Mrs Mead (Dunedin) are staying at the Grovenor.

Mr and Mrs A. E. Bartrum. Christchurch, are the guests of Mrs W. A. Strang, Fairlie. Mrs Sam Chafley. Mt. Possession, has returned home after a short visit to Mrs G. H. R. Ulrich, Wai-iti Road. Miss Brown-John, an English visitor to New Zealand, is the guest of Mrs F. M. Larcombe, "Rivermead," Fairlie. Misses Cara and Nonie Pinckney, “Glenaray,” Southland, will leave early in February on a visit to England. Mi-s P. A. Elworthy, Gordon’s Valley, will spend the Christmas holidays at Decanter Bay, Banks Peninsula. Miss Nancy Bridges, will arrive from Wellington to-day to spend the holidays with her parents, Mr and Mrs G. A. Bridges, Selwyn Street. Misses Elsie and Betty Goldie have arrived from Christchurch to spend the holidays with their parents, Mr and Mrs J. Goldie, Seddon Street. Miss Aspinall, Christchurch, will arrive to-day to stay with her sister, Mrs Andrew Guild, ‘■Strathearn," Temuka. Mrs Redmond Neill, “Barossa,” who is staying with her mother, Mrs Sin-clair-Thomson, “The Crossing,” Woodbury, will return home to-day. Mrs B. H. Howell, and her children. “Matata,” Cave, will leave at the end of the week to stay with Mrs Howell’s father, Mr George Rhodes, “Beverley,” Christchurch, for Christmas. Mrs M. Turton and Miss C. Lowe, Christchurch, will leave on Saturday to spend a week at the Franz Josef Glacier. Miss Lowe will later be the guest of Mrs Turton at her home in Woodbury. “The Crossing,” Woodbury, presented a very gay scene last night when Mrs Sinclair-Thomson entertained the young friends of her grand-children, Miss Josephine Neill and Masters Paddy and Ken. Neill, “Barossa,” at a very jolly dance. Dr. and Mrs C. A. Paterson, Sefton Street, will leave on Saturday for Christchurch. Mrs H. L. Bowker and her children, Christchurch, who have taken their house till January 31, will arrive on Saturday. Miss Janet Paterson’s marriage to Mr F. M. Riley will take place in St. Mary’s Church on February 21.
