NAPOLEON’S LETTERS ON THE MARKET
United Pi ess Association—By Electric Telegraph—Copyright LONDON, December 17. In the presence of 300 people, including dealers hoping to make separate purchases, 318 of Napoleon’s unpublished love letters to Marie Louise, from 1810 to 1814, dealing with courtship, marriage, the Russian campaign, the defeat at Leipzig and his exile to Elba, were sold in one lot for £15,000 at Sotheby’s to M. Maggs, on behalf of the French Government. The owner was an anonymous nobleman.
