SUCCESSFUL CAROL SERVICE ! PRESBYTERIAN CHURCH Appropriate to the season the evening service at the Geraldine Presbyterian Church on Sunday took the form of a carol service. There was a large congregation, the preacher, the Rev. W. J. Couling, delivering an appropriate sermon. Mr C. S. Davies presided at the organ. Infants: Pearson prizes, Rosemary Kirk, Thomas Murphy. "KITCHEN” EVENING In honour of Miss Marion L. Grant, whose marriage to Mr W. Webb will take place shortly, Mesdames G. R. Knibb and Z. O. Sherratt were joint hostesses at a “kichen” evening held in the Masonic Hall. Beautiful decorations of delphiniums, pink roses and coloured balloons gave a very festive air. A happy evening was spent in dancing, games, competitions and bridge. Musical items were contributed by Misses G. Grant (Timaru), M. Cruickshank, E. Gimson, M. Webb, Messrs C. S. Davies, G. R. Knibb and C. Gimson. The community singing was led by Mr J. P. Cliff.

After supper, Mr G. R. Knibb, on behalf of those present, asked Miss Grant and Mr Webb to accept the many useful gifts with best wishes for their future happiness. Mr Webb suitably replied. PERSONAL Mrs Pauling, who has returned from a holiday visit to Australia, is the guest of her sister, Mrs L. Mitchell, Raukapuka. Miss Mary Knibb has left for Melbourne. Mr G. R. Noy has returned to Christchurch after spending a few days in Geraldine, “MR SKITCH” The inimitable Will Rogers will come to the screen at the Municipal Theatre this evening in “Mr Skitch,” Fox Film’s latest comedy release. Rogers, suddenly finds himself penniless, and is confronted with the task of making sufficient money to support his family. How he finally manages to emerge from his financial difficulties is said to bring the film to an uproarious finale. Zasu Pitts supports Will Rogers and Rochelle Hudson and Charles Starrett play the romantic leads.
