Mr James Robertson (Geelong. Victoria) is staying at the Grosvenor. Mr E. Macdonald (Fairlie) is staying at the Empire. Messrs B. R. Macdonald (Geraldine) and E. R. Smith (Dunedin) are staying at the Dominion. Mr F. E. S. Long, general secretary, Y.M.C.A.. has returned from a visit to the North Island. Mr E. W. B. Watkinson. of Napier, has been appointed by the Borough Council to succeed Mr G. A. Booth as sanitary inspector. Constable D. J. Lloyd, of Christchurch, has been transferred to Timaru to fill the vacancy due to the transfer of Constable R. E. Kennedy, of the Timaru force. Mr J. Finlinson, senior clerk at the Timaru Post Office has been advised of his promotion to the position of supervisor of the postal branch. Oamaru. Mr Finlinson expects to commence his new duties early in the New Year. Seasonal greetings were extended to members of the Timaru Rotary Club by the president (Mr F. I. Washbourn) at yesterday’s luncheon. Mr Washbourn took the opportunity of thanking members for their loyal support during che first half of his term of office, and expressed appreciation of the publicity, which had been accorded the club’s activities by the Timaru newspapers. The greetings were acknowledged oy Mr W. D. Campbell, who congratulated Mr Washbourn and his officers on the work they had accomplished. At his call three cheers were given for the president and office-bearers. Dr. B. T. Wynn Irwin, Christchurch, at present holder of the Lady King Scholarship at the Otago. Medical School, has received word of his completion of the examination for Doctor of Medicine (M.D.. N.Z.) and also that for the Diploma of Public Health.
