TWENTY- STONE COMPETITOR WINNER PARIS. October 2 Three of the four competitors for the title of “greatest eater,”. which was decided at the “Festival of the Stomach” at Rouen, declared themselves willing and anxious to join in another gargantuan battle. The competitors wex-e:— M. Charles Viennot (a vintner), aged 52, weight 20st„ the winner. M. Roge (a singer), aged 32, weight 19st. M. L’Oiselle (a waiter), aged 39; weigth 16st. “The Unknown Eater,” aged 40; weight 29st. When the trenchermen mounted the platform the boards creaked and groaned under the strain. Then, amid applause, they set about this appetising menu: —2 l-51b. of brill, 211 b. of chicken, 211 b. of mutton with kidney beans, one cheese and apple tart (lots). The winner drank four bottles of cider, two of Alsatian wine and two of Burgundy. Px-izes for the biggest stomach went to “The Unknown Eater,” who put on 101 b. in weight during the meal. Viennot was up 61b., Roge by 51b. Poor L.Oiselle actually lost weight.
