DEATH OF DRAMATIST

DION TITHERADGE SUCCUMBS AFTER OPERATION United Prejs Association—By Electric Telegraph—Copyright (Received November 18, 6.30 p.m.) LONDON, November 17. The death has occurred of Dion Titheradge, the dramatic author and actor, after an operation. “The Daily Telegraph” says: “Dion Titheradge would have been a greater figure on the stage if poor health had not stood in his way. He was a sound actor, but was best known as the writer of ‘The Crooked Billet,’ an extremely workmanlike thriller. Apart from his theatrical capacity Titheradge was a most modest, unassuming and pleasant man.” Dion Titheradge was born in Melbourne in 1889 and was a brother of Madge Titheradge, the well known stage and screen star. He made his first appearance in 1908 in “The Woman of Kronstadt,” and subsequently toured New Zealand and Australia. He had devoted himself to authorship since 1916.
