HUNGARY FOR LOVE?
PREMIER RE-MARRIES HIS FIRST WIFE General Julius Gombos, the Hungarian Premier, was re-married the other day to his first wife, Margarethe Reichert, the daughter of a rich industrialist, from whom he was divorced ten years ago after she had borne him three children. The re-marriage took place on the Premier’s estate at Nagy Teteny, near Budapest. His best man was State Secretary Koloman Daranyi. Frau Elizabeth Gombos, the general’s second wife, died in July last year as the result of shock received when she witnessed a melodrama in a Budapest theatre five years ago (writes the Vienna correspondent of the London Daily Mail). The sudden darkening of the stage, with the firing of shots, so affected Frau Gombos that she suffered a severe heart attack and lost the power of speech. After a few months she was able to speak again, but her heart was always weak. For the past six months General Gombos frequently visited and recourted his first wife in Vienna. His intermediary in the first of such visits was his only daughter, whom he worshipped. For years a marble bust of his daughter ocupied a prominent position on his desk.
