NET PROFIT OF £lO2 MADE MEETING OF ASSOCIATION The Timaru Agricultural and Pastoral Association met yesterday. Present—Dr. P. R. Woodhouse (chairman). Messrs R. Guinness, W. J. Bassett, A. S. Elworthy. H. Elworthy. H. B. S. Johnstone. R. Maddren. R. J. M&rphy, C. L. Orbell. W. H. Orbell, P. Porter. T. R. Rhodes, G. G. Rich, T. Seaton, and P. R. Talbot. Several letters were received from exhibitors at the recent Show expressing appreciation of the assistance they had been given, special reference being made to the work done by Mr W. Divan in connection with the draught horse classes. It was agreed to send a letter of thanks to Mr Divan for his work. Dr. C. E. Hercus, Medical School, Dunedin, wrote advising that he was willing to give an address in Timaru on December 14 on hydatids disease in sheep. Mr A. Webb, Christchurch, wrote expressing his willingness to act as judge of lambs on the hoof at the export competition. The Temuka Technical School Board wrote asking for a donation to its funds. It was decided not to grant the request. Good Profit on Show. The financial statement of the recent Show showed that the fixture had resulted in a profit of £lO2. Gate takings amounted to £l9/12/- on the first day and £469/12/3 on the second day; privileges £4O; entry fees and sideshows £316/10/3; exhibitors’ space £4O 8/-; donations and special prizes £147/1/6; rent of sheep paddocks £7/15/-; profit from refreshments and sweets £29/3/-. The chairman said that the profit from refreshments had been most satisfactory, a loss of £35 having been shown for that item last year. Dr. Woodhouse took the opportunity of thanking the judges and all who had assisted at the Show, and also at the ewe hogget competition. A vote of thanks was accorded them.
