Dominion Meteorologist. General situation —A westerly depression of no great intensity is crossing the Dominion to-day, while there has been a rapid rise of pressure over Eastern Australia. Winds—Moderate to strong north to north-west at first about and north cf Cook Strait; elsewhere moderate to strong south-westerlies; south-wester-lies becoming general during the next 24 hours. Seas (New Zealand waters)—Rough about Cook and Poveaux Straits, becoming rather rough on the West Coast, elsewhere moderate. Eastern Tasman Sea —Moderate to strong south-westerly winds, and moderate to rather rough seas. Weather—Rather unsettled, some rain in most districts, but mainly light to moderate and irregular in distribution; temperatures cooler to-morrow. Mr F. L. Wooles. Wind—Moderate to fresh south to south-east. Weather—Showery at times; cooler. Outlook for week ending November s—Wind5 —Wind mainly westerly to southerly; weather, rather unsettled, with occasional rain during the period. Conditions in Timaru. The weather in Timaru yesterday was changeable. Through the morning conditions were dull but fine, and shortly after midday the sun made a brief appearance. A southerly wind then sprang up, and at 2.15 light rain set in and continued until early in the evening.
